The sound you hear is air in your line due to a leak or insufficient bleeding. Check for leaks, replace the brake fluid, and then bleed the system air.
First you should not drive the car until you get the brakes repaired. Start with bleeding the brakes, if that doesn't work, replace the slave and/or master cylinder, and bleed again!
Don't drive it! Sounds like you might be low on brake fluid. Check brake fluid resevour for correct fluid level. If low you might have a bad brake line.
Tonight I just noticed that my brakes LIGHTS and hazard lights weren't working. Other lights working. While pressing the brake pedal with the engine OFF, my pedal was hard solid. When I turned the engine ON the pedal depressed with a shiss sound.
If the engine is off and you pump the brake pedal then the noise you hear is the brake servo unit equalising with atmospheric and this is completely normal....
A low brake pedal that has to be pumped repeatedly to bring a vehicle to a stop may be due to a low fluid level, drum brakes that need adjustment or air in the lines. it usually has nothing to do with the condition of the brakes.
