For a one month old to cry and scream, is totally normal (be prepared for this to be normal for the next three years). Just accept it, and be patient. If it starts to become to much for you to handle, leave them in a safe place, and let them cry it out.

Crying and screaming could be a number of things. First make sure your baby is fed, diaper is changed and nothing is hurting him/her. Try to comfort the baby by rocking, or bouncing gently on the bed holding your baby tightly. If the behaviors continue seek your pediatrician for advise and possibly colic treatment and changing the formula. Be patient!

It is very common for one month old babies to become very colicy. If it is occuring at the same time every day you can try things to relieve the colic. Rocking, swaying and swadling children of this age often helps to calm them down. You should also consult with your doctor.

Anytime an infant is crying and screaming, look for immediate problems such as constipation. Other possibilities are clothing too tight or a pin from clothing sticking the skin. If the infant has been sick recently and there is no obvious cause for the distress, call the doctor.
