You can try to call him. He might not wish to talk to you, so you will have to be prepared to deal with that.

Yes. You should call him. What is the worst that could happen, if you are already estranged from him, it cant get any worse, and if you don't call him you might always wonder what would have happened. Plus, it will get that weight off your shoulders if you apologize.

Yes, If its your mistake and you realize that he is innocent there is nothing wrong to call him up ask sorry for what you did to him. Apologies in last thing but asking sorry for the mistake is the first best thing

That depends on what you did to mess up. If it was unforgivable bad, Id say just let it go because it'll hurt both of you more if you don't.

That depends. Are you calling in hopes that you can convince him to take you back, or just to apologize? If you just want to apologize, by all means call him. If you want him back, be prepared to find out that he's moved on and is with someone else.

Contact him either by email or phone. Sometimes putting something in writing is a lot easier with helping you express yourself. Be honest and tell him how you feel. The worst that can happen is that he will say no, but it is always worth a try.
