What should I do if I have found a pill in my son's room and want to know what it is?

It could be a cold medicine but I want to know if he is taking illegal drugs.

Take the pill to a pharmasist at a drug store and they should be able to help you figure out what the pill is.

You can go online and search for pill identifier. Once you get to the site you will have to enter any inscriptions that are on the pill, enter the color and size of the pill. It will come back and tell what the pill is.

Take the pill to a pharmacist or a doctor and ask them to identify it or look at a pharmaceutical book with pictures of prescriptions in it.

You need to sit down and have a talk with your son. Don't be confrontational or angry, just tell him you need to know because you love him very much.

Doe have a change of friends, grades declining, secretive about where he is going and where he is at. Usually if you suspect it as a parent than it is usually true. Let him know it will not be tolerated. Bring his bottom to him by letting him know he will loose you and what he is used to.
