I actually sing and dance with my son everytime he is successful using the potty. This will encourage him/her to continue with the potty.

Take your time, this is a very important stage in a childs life and sometimes they are not ready. Make sure you place your child in the potty right after every beverage, this is a perfect way to help them associate the behavior. Most importantly have patience and keep trying!

Toddlers are notoriously stubborn, so if they don't seem ready, don't push it, they will just regress. Try a rewards system (stickers, m and m's)- you might want to consider buying "big kid" underwear and letting them try it out to see what it's like.

Keep trying. Your child could just be afraid of the toilet. In this case if you need to bribe your toddler go for it.
