Make sure to have a bench or chair for people to sit down in, as sometimes it is necessary when getting dressed. Also, make sure there are places available to hang the garments they are putting on and a place to put the garments they are taking off. Another good idea would be to have mirrors for them.

Make sure the room is large enough to move around in. You'll need space for hanging clothes, a full length mirror, a dresser or shelving for folded clothes and a place for all of your shoes. Lighting is a must with at least a 60 watt light bulb. An irong board and iron and a clothes steamer.

If you have a 2 or 3 bedroom house, turning one of the bedrooms into a dressing room may adversely affect your resale ability and price. If you have more than 3 bedrooms, consider the neighborhood - will having less bedrooms than other houses hurt you, or is it a community with more house than needed?

Will more then one person use this room(how many closets will be needed?) Is the room large enough to accommodate more then one closet? Will a bath be needed? Will it be for the handicapped? A sitting area( elderly people need to sit and put on socks and shoes) Budget how much will you spend?

Don't do anything permanent to the room in question that you are not willing to undo in order to put the house on the market later. Don't move walls. Maintain the integrity of the room for later use as a bedroom. Aside from that, add mirrors, add cabinetry for folded and/or hanging clothes. Make yourself happey.

First make sure the lighting is good. A dressing room needs good lighting for makeup and evaluating colors. Windows are great from dressing rooms but you need to make sure they have coverings for privacy sake. Make sure you have a nice big mirror, preferably a three-sided mirror. Also you need a good dressing table and chair.
