The average person should consume between 20 and 35 percent of their daily caloric intake in fat. The amount depends on gender, body type, health and other factors. So if your caloric intake shoudl be 1800 a day, you should eat between 360 and 630 calories from fat. When dieting, it should be about 20 percent.

It matters little of fat intake and watching fat intake is meaningless. Diets rich in a wide variety of fruit and vegetables should make sure that you get sufficient fat intake.
