It depends on the state and nursery school that you would want to work in. ALL places require that you pass a background check (usually fingerprinting) and receive a TB test. Many other places require that you have an early childhood education credential.

If you want to work in a day care center you need a high school diploma and one or 2 child development courses. Public schools require a certified teacher.

To be a nursery school teacher you most likely will have to have a fingerprint clearance card from the United States, as well as have whatever certifications are required by your state, and be up on current vaccinations. Plus you may also have to have a food handlers card.

It really depends on what state you live in. Some states require you to have an associate's degree. Others require nothing. Most child care centers require you to be 21, have CPR training and no criminal background. I highly recommend you go talk to someone who owns a local center and they can tell you what to do.
