When you are driving in the winter you should drive in the tracks of the car ahead of you if there is snow on the ground. You should also try to avoid braking and turning at the same time since you cannot do both on snowy or icy roads.

There is salt, ice, snow, and water scattered everywhere reducing your traction. This combined with cold tire makes for dangerous driving. When ever you drive you must use caution. Reduce your speed and increase following distance between you and other cars. Especially when turning or going up/down inclines. It is a good idea to invest in a set winter tires.

Make sure that you always have at least a quarter tank of gas to prevent being stranded. Also change all of your fluids prior to the first storm. Change the wipers and the belts if necessary to prevent unnecessary wear and tear on the vehicle.
