Lovebirds are not compatible with other bird species. Sometimes people think that parakeets or cockatiels or finches would get along with their lovebirds, but this is a poor idea indeed. Caging these birds together will not turn out well- you can expect them to be territorial and this inevitably leads to aggression and fighting.

Lovebirds possess a moniker that is enviable by all other category of birds. The name implies a loving bird; however it is only fitting in conjunction with another lovebird or a mate. They are socially compatible with no other species of bird, and will become aggressive if placed in close proximity to any other variety of bird.

Birds shouldn't in cages with other species of birds. Although a bird appears to be tame, accidents can happen. The best bet for a lovebird's companion would be another lovebird.

In a small cage or small aviary almost any birds will fight over territory. However, in a large flight cage, greenhouse or large aviary lovebirds might coexist peacefully with finches.
