Pure silver is the best electrical conductor of any metal known to man. Copper is considered to be the second best, and is used more widely due to its substantially cheaper cost. Gold, third best, but still an excellent conductor, is used in situations (such as electrical contacts) where corrosion resistance is important.

There are many metals that conduct electricity. These include tin, platinum, iron, aluminum, brass, rhodium, iridium and titanium. They range in conductivity. Silver is the best, followed by copper, which is 9% less conductive, then aluminum, which is 10% less than copper, and the third most conductive is gold. Gold comes in at 24% less than copper, but doesn't corrode.

Silver is the metal with the best electrical conductivity. However, since silver tarnishes easily, and is very expensive, it is not commonly used. Copper is the next most conductive metal.
