Hepatitis B is treated with Interferon, a program that lasts about one year. While each patient tolerates Interferon differently, it is a difficult program that can often be debilitating. The disease can be cured, but there are several factors to be considered as each case is different.

It is treated by getting rid of the offending source. Sometimes, there is no need to treat. Sometimes we can use interferon. Sometimes the patient needs a liver transplant. Sometimes the patient can completely clear the infection, and sometimes not - hence a "chronic" state. Use Twinrix as a preventative vaccine.

Hepatitis B is treated by antiviral drugs and recently they are using monoclonal antibodies. It is not curable but we can extend life period and can decrease morbidity.
