A power hitter is somebody who hits for power numbers, not neccesarily for average. Usually, power hitters will hit the ball out of the ball park around once every 15-20 at bats, and have a lot of doubles. Singles and triples though, wouldn't be as commom for a power hitter.

A power hitter usually has a stocky muscular frame and drives the baseball out of the park with the strenght in thier entire body being used. Unfortunately many players who are power hitters do some kind of steroid to become a beter power hitter to hit those home runs on a consistent basis.
