A composer usually becomes famous if the work is somehow memorable or catchy. This is what really hooks a person to want to listen to the music more than once and therefore leads to their eventual fame and popularity. You know what's good based on your own preferences, but the music must appeal to a mass amount of people.

Most composer's are famous because of the way their music can make people feel. Either good or bad people want to have emotion when they choose their musical composers.
