Roses bloom when they are one of two things: either they are very happy or very sad and think they are dying. Obvously you want the first reason rather than the latter. Keep your roses fertilized and make sure that their roots have good drainage.

These are some reasons why roses don't bloom: no direct sunlight, not enough water, too much fertilizer, perhaps it is a new plant.

The most common problems for roses not blooming is a lack of fertilizer and sun light. Always use a fertilizer specially made for Roses and then feed the roses every 3 weeks . Fertilization is very critical for container roses as the nutrients in the container get used up very quickly. Roses love sun and do not well in total shade.

If there is shortage of sunlight, deficient water supply and the pest attack, the blooming will get affected. If you want best result, periodical prunning is essential.Less fertilizer usage and no weeding done are the reason for the problem. If the plant is under a tree blooming is affected.
