During the war textile is scarce. Women wear shorter dresses. Garments are fit and tight. Platform shoes allow for a feminine allure despite the restrictions. After the war, Dior brings its bold New Look. An incredible amount of fabric is used for dresses as to drive out penury.

Dresses, slacks and clothing using less fabric. Hems got shorter during the war because of rationing and lack of materials. Slacks were popular as women worked factory jobs.
