What kind of skills do you need as a receptionist?

You will probably need to know how to type really well, know microsoft office i.e: words, excel really well. Aside from typing, you might have to be very knowledgeable with computers; knowing how to check the email, go online and do research for your boss/co workers. Have good personal skills on the phone.

A receptionist is the first face a potential client will see. For this reason, you must be neat, professional and polite. It is important to speak using proper grammar. Often, light bookkeeping, typing and filing may be required as part of the job.

Knowing how to answer the phone correctly will be the most important skill that you will need. You will also usually have to know how to book appointment as well. You will also have to know the answers to many basic questions that many people will ask.
