The U.S. Department of Labor estimated in 2008 that the national average a dentist earns over $120,000 a year. Dentist who works for a clinic will make less while a dentist who works for themselves will make more. The lowest salary average was around 60,000.00 a year.

My dad is a dentist. He makes about 400,000 after paying all his bills, his 6 staff members, and putting away some investments. I'm going to dental school too, but you have to consider that schooling costs no less than 400,000/4yrs. He works 4 days/wk.

Most dentists in the United States make over $100,000 per year. But don't forget all the schooling (and associated expenses) that dentists require. The first several years of your career will be spent repaying loans. Once you get settled, it is a well-paying and secure job.
