It very much depends on your budget, you could try Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey which is near airport and close to the beach as well.

There are several of the typical chain hotels and motels in the area I have stayed at almost all of them and they are just what you would expect but I have no experience with local owned hotels in the area.

The Holiday Inn Express Marina and the Marriott Marina are the 2 top rated hotels in the area. I'm not aware of any B&B's nearby, but there is a neat hotel named Foghorn Harbor Inn that has a nice view of the harbor and a beach on the premises.
