Head lice appear on the scalp in various forms, depending on their stage of growth. In the early stages they appear as yellow, tan or white dots located along the base of the hair shaft. They can grow to the size of rice and maintains a tan or grayish-white color.

There are many insect which have a brown and rice shaped larvae, some of them are - the common house fly,termites and the some type of mosquito's. these larva's just look in pale brown colour and they have the shape of rice, they are usually found in unclean water and sewage water.

Most likely a sexton beetle. These bettles are found in the British Isles. The female beetle lays her larvae in the soil and remains there until her larvae have been born. These bettles often eat small rodants, and small birds. They bury them away and continue eating on them for months, even years at a time.
