There are several orchid varieties, like the Cattelya maxima, the Gongora tricolor, and Encyclia vespa. In some areas you will find the famous Venus fly trap and the hanging Heliconia.

In any jungle you will find large, brightly-colored flowers. In a jungle, there is shade; flying pollinators like insects and birds seek sources of plant nectar by sight. Thus, tropical flowers are hard to miss. The small, drab, wind-pollinated flowers common in temperate regions could not reproduce in the tropics.
