The Carassius auratus auratus, also known as the common goldfish, is a member of the Cyprinidae family, along with carp and minnows. In Europe, carp is used colloquially for all members of this family, but in North America, the most common term is minnow.

They are commonly called Feeder Fish (often used as live prey for freshwater turtles). Even though are sold for 23 cents - are the best fish to have! We have had many successes over the years having them live up to 5 years old. One fish we bought was the size of my thumb is now 6 inches long!
