It is difficult to diagnose the problem without seeing it firsthand, but two possibilities come to mind. On one hand, it could be a poor connection/reception between the TV and cable box. It could also be a broken monitor, which would need to be repaired.

You may have broken the LCD. when this happens, "bleeding" usually appears as well as big black spots. Sometimes, when they are subtly broken, you can see stripes going across the screen. Touch it with your finder, if it starts to "bleed" you know its broken. If the colors "Regenerate", it's something else.

I have seen this problem before. When I ran into this problem I used a small 13 inch t. v. to verify that the other equiptemt was not bad first. After verifying that all other equiptment is good you need to replace or repair the t. v. because it is projecting the entire picture on the one line.

This is not a good sign, it sounds like your TV could be busted. You may be able to replace a component in the TV, though.

This problem arises when vertical section of the telivision fails. It may be the fault of vertical yoke or bad VERTICAL IC or dry soldering.
