What is wrong if my Ford Taurus will try to turn over but doesn't?

if the car tries to "turn over", but does so slowly, the most common reason is a low battery. Batteries typically only last 3-4 years. I would replace it.

More than likely if your car won't turn over it's due to the battery being dead. A sure sign is a click and no starter engine noise.

It could be that your points are dirty, the fule filter is cloged, the fuel pump isn't working, but, check to see that you are getting fire to the plugs first.

Means it either doesn't have fuel or doesn't have ignition spark. Since it has enough electricity to crank then it is probably not lacking spark. Check your fuel system to make sure everything is working. Then move to the ignition system checking all components especially the spark plugs.
