Question by  ka (20)

What is the volume of a rotated line?

+5

Answer by  jsmith (2067)

The volume of a 3D figure created by rotating a line in 3D would be infinite because by definition a line is infinitely long. If you mean a line segment, it depends on how you rotate it. For example, you could rotate around one end or around the midpoint.

If a line is rotates about any point, its volume is zero. Reason. A line only occupies one dimention and if it is rotated with respect to a point or an axis, the figure formed will occupy 2 dimentions, not 3.
