Depends on the year and silver content of the coin. The 1964's are 90% silver and worth more than the 1965 through 1970 which are only 40% silver. The ones from 1971 to date have no silver. The 90% silver ones have a melt down value of about $10. Each dealer will probably be different.

The 1964 silver dollars are worth more because they were made with 90% silver. The silver amount decreased to 40% in 1965-1970. 1971 and beyond have no silver so are basically worth a half dollar still. As for the 1964 you figure its worth by multiplying current market price of siver by 0.36169. 1965-1970 needs to be multiplied by 0.1479

A John F. Kennedy silver dollar was never minted, but half dollars were. The year and condition are very important when determining value. Pieces minted in 1964 are 90% silver, so are worth about $6 on average. Those minted from 1965-1970 are 40% silver, and are worth about $2.

Several things will change the value of a coin. Condition and date primarily. Also if the coin has been cleaned or otherwise damaged at any point in time. A reputable coin dealer will be able to tell you the value.
