Ice should be applied in the first 72 hours or when inflammation persists. Compression should be provided with an elastic bandage. Provide elevation to help swelling to return to the heart through the blood stream. The injured area should be elevated above the level of the heart. If pain persists more than three days seek medical attention.

Muscle energy technique is an osteopathic approach to thoracic spine problems. It involves the physician positioning your spine in such a way as to reduce or minimize any pain you may experience. The physician may ask you to apply force by raising a shoulder or turning your head and will apply resistance to said force in turn to engage barriers.
