In most places, it's until "death, do you part". That doesn't take into account divorce laws and whatnot. And then, there's also annulments, with each state differing in definition.
Each state has its own rules on marriage, so it can vary from place to place. In general, however, a marriage lasts until it is ended by either the death of one of the spouses or by divorce.
