The blue pygmy is the smallest butterfly sizing up to half an inch total wingspan. The largest is the New Guinea's Queen Alexandra's birdwing which has a 12 inch wingspan. All different butterflies come in all different sizes.

The sizes vary, there are alot of different types of butterflies, some that are a centimeter and some like the Monarch butterfly, can grow to about 3 inches or more! It is all about what type of butterfly you are looking for. You can get a good understanding of this if you go to a butterfly farm

Butterflies come in various sizes and colors. As with their life spans also vary. But the smallest, blue pygmy, has a wing span of 1/2 inch. And the largest from wing tip to tip is 12 inches
