The red electrical wire is used for phase. The black wire is for neutral & the green wire is for earthing.

There are mainly three colors of electric wire and that are the red color,green and black color and all of these are used for different purpose. Red one is used to indicate the phase line,Green is used to indicate the ground and the black one is used to indicate the neutral line.

Red wires are generally "hot" or act as control wires in many circuits. Before touching a red wire, check if it is hot. If not see what it connects to.
