There is no recommended daily allowance for sugar. Although sugar is not required in a diet, the U.S. officials say if you must eat sugar, consuming 40 grams for every 2000 calories is sufficient, which is eight percent of one's daily intake. Be sure to read labels on products and take into account, sugar from other sources when counting calories.
