Elite pitchers separate themselves by being able to CONSISTENTLY repeat their craft using IMAGERY. Many pitchers have the ability, but top pitchers can hone in on successful repetitions more often.

All pitchers must stay focused on the task at hand. If you lose focus for even one pitch, you can cost your team the game. You must also try to stay one step ahead of the batter and throw off-speed pitches when they least expect it.

The main psychological part of pitching softball is the ability to focus completely on the catcher's target and to block out all distractions.

As in anything, focus play a crucial role in all things we do. Softball and baseball need a certain amount of natural ability. Along with that and focus, keeping hitter's off balance is very important too. Pitching can sometimes settle into a rhythm, and that is not good.
