The cabin filter is often up towards the front of the engine compartment, attached to the firewall. However these are not always easy to replace.

The Colorado shares many parts with the Malibe, but the placement of the cabin filter is differant to account for the extended cab. If you have the truck jacked up, look above the exhaust pipe near the wire harness. The cabin filter is marked with a "CF1" label. The filter snaps out easily.

As far as i cant tell these trucks have no cabin air filter. Which is very odd because a lot of newer cars and trucks have these to help filter the outside air that comes into the cab.

Cabin filters are usually found in heavy equipment to filter out dust particles. The placement in this particular vehicle will have a marking on which side the filter is mounted.

My best advise is to go to auto zone and get a haynes manual for that car and you can repair anything.

It processes the air from outside the vehicle to inside the vehicle. It gets blown into the persons compartment in the vehicle.
