Believed to be derived from an English place name which meant either gravelly homestead or grey home. This is the surname of the famous scientist Alaxander Graham Bell who invented telephone. Origin is English or om a Scottish surname which was originally derived from an English place name which probably meant "gravelly homestead" in Old English.

The origin is from England, specifically from the town Grantham in Lincolnshire, England. Graham is a variation of Grantham. Graham means home, dwelling, or adobe. The tiny town of Grantham, New Hampshire was named for Thomas Robinson of England, the 1st Baron Grantham
