What is the oldest a cockatiel can be and still breed?

It depends on the gender of the Cockatiel. A male can breed for 12-14 years, while a female can only breed for 8-10. Some birds will be fertile for several years after the average expectancy, depending on health and environment.

Female cockatiels can stay fertile until they are about 9 to 10 years old. Males, however, may continue breeding until they are about 13 to 14 years old. Of course, there are exceptions. Some cockatiels may become infertile at a very young age and others may be able to continue to breed until much later.

Cockatiels generally live for around 12-20 years. They will breed for life if they are kept in the right conditions.
