What is the normal age of retirement for a professional ballerina?

I want to be a ballerina.

I think it is pretty young, definitely less than 60! This depends on if you want to teach or be on stage though.

The normal age that a professional ballerina should retire is around the age of 30. This has a lot to do with the fact that a ballerina must be thin and fit. As a ballerina ages it becomes more difficult to keep the figure required for such a demanding profession.

Normally professional ballerinas start dancing at 6 or 7 years of age, hit professional in their teens and are ready to retire by 35.

Retirement due to injuries or loss of flexibility is common in the late 30s. Retirement from work in general is between ages 60 and 70.
