You would have to prove liability, that's not easy. An ACL can tear by a sudden fall with a torquing or ripping movement and is most often seen in sports. You would need irrefutable proof that excessive negligence caused your injury, and juries don't like to give money out for something the attorney can point out you should have avoided.

There are many factors to be looked at when deciding damages in cases like this. First was the injury sustained on the job? Was there lost wages during recovery? Medical bills are also a deciding factor, generally as a rule four times the medical costs are awarded in injury claims.

A settlement amount set for this type of injury would depend on how the injury occured. If an athelete suffers this type of injury, obviously that would be considered an ocupational hazard and their would not be a lawsuit or pending settlement. If suffered in an auto accident, payment of all medical bills, rehabiliation and lost income would insue.

The amount of money you can get really depends on the severity of the injury and how badly your life is impacted by the injury.

The money is usually decided by a judge based on how long a person will be out of work, and how much they usually earn.

There is no average for a number of reasons. Settlements that are awarded are not published, so no numbers to work with to find an average. There are many variables: was there a pre-existing condition, severity of current injury, what impact has it made on your life? What state your in, is worker's comp. involved and was there negligence?

There is no definitive answer to that question. basically, it can be anything, depending on what the company or person is offering, and what the judge declares to be fair.
