What is the mineral name of fluorspar?

It's calcium fluoride, I know, but it has a different name.

It is possible that you are thinking of the mineral "Fluorite." That is the technically correct term for the naturally occurring mineral. The name of the ORE is most often "fluorspar." So it is most correct to say that fluorspar is the raw ore from which fluorite (the pure mineral, also "Calcium Fluoride") may be derived.

Fluorspar is more commonly known as fluorite. It appears in nature as crystals of varying sizes and colors. The various colors are due to impurities in the crystals. Certain impurities can also cause the crystals to fluoresce, meaning that they glow under certain wavelengths of ultraviolet light. The chemical formula is CaF2.
