"Talib" is a person is need of something. It also has been defined as a "seeker. " "Seekers" include students or any who search for wisdom, knowledge, or prayer. Today, the search for prayer and religious knowledge are the strongest associations with the word, a connection strengthened by the Taliban. Nevertheless, the word originally did not have religious meaning.

The masculine name Talib (sometimes also spelled Taleeb)is Arabic. Its English definition is 'seeker of knowledge,' so it is a very fine name indeed to give to one's son.
