What is the last day to wear white?

Answer by  malone (4817)

There once was a rule about wearing white only after Memorial Day and only until Labor Day. New fabrics and fashions--like white wool, white denim, white leather--can ignore the "rule. " The point is to be appropriate with regard to the season. Save the summer clothing for summer months.

Supposedly Labor Day is the last day you should wear summer whites. However there is such a thing as winter whites, which are heavier material and usually not a bright white and you can wear these through the whole year. White shoes and white purses should not be used after Labor Day if you want to follow fashion.

Traditionally, Labor Day ( first Monday in September) has been designated as the last appropriate day to wear white. Modern fashion dictates it's acceptable to wear white all year long.
