In a dream it may be the actual meaning of the name that is significant, or it could be the association of that name. Where as the meaning of a name is easily found, association is more personal and may depend on your experience. In a dream it is more likely to be by association than by meaning.

Names can be nonsense pieces of information, but a lot of times, if it's the name of someone you know, it means they are on your mind; it likely means that you are wondering/worrying about them. Most of the time though, it's what is going on in the dream while the names appear that really determines meaning.

Often, names in a dream signify persons you currently know or have known. Since names have a power of their own, try Googling the name to see if there's a special significance. Perhaps it is the name of the one you are to marry.

Sometimes names can be word play on actions or thoughts and such. Someone named April in a dream may represent spring or new beginnings. A person named Frank may represent the need for openness or assertiveness. Other times names have carry certain associations. Ar.n random person with familiar name might share characteristics of a known person with the same name.

Names in dreams are vague to me, and I often associate myself not with the persons birthname in the dream but instead I observe their essence as a whole. Who are they? If one animal could represent them, what would it be? Names are nothing but a mental necessity in order to memorize a being.
