The Sweetest Day, celebrated on the third Saturday in Otober is a holiday celebrated primarily in the Great-Lakes and northeastern U.S. Originally began by C.C. Hartzel in Cleveland, as a day to remember the sick and elderly and orphans, now remembers family and friends who have helped or shown you kindness in the past. Many consider this another "Hallmark holiday".

The Sweetest Day actually started in 1929 by a candy company in Cleveland, Ohio during the Great Depression. It is similar to the commercialization of Valentine's Day, but some celebrate the Sweetest Day by focusing on women buying sweets for their beloved. It is not commonly celebrated, but the official day is the third Saturday in October.
