Annual open wheeled car race in Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It has been on TV since the late 50's but in production for 93 years.

The Indianapolis 500 was first run on Memorial Day in 1911. The Indianapolis Speedway was built in 1909. The original track had 3,200,000 bricks. This is why it is known as the brickyard. It is one of the oldest motor racing events in the United States.

A 500 mile, open wheel race that is held on the Memorial Day weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speed Way. The speedway was built in 1909 and held it's first Indy 500 on Memorial Day, May 30, 1911. The race was won by Ray Harroun.
