Catapults in medieval times were very valuable weapons. There were many different types of these deadly weapons that were first used in China and Ancient Greece. The catapults were designed to shoot something beyond castle walls to hurt the enemy or gain entrance inside a castle.

First thought to have originated in 399 in Syracuse, Rome the catapult is a siege engine used in medieval warfare.

They were used to launch an object up an over a city or castle wall. Sometimes they could launch nasty things against an enemy during an attack.

Back in times of yore, they were used to toss the garbage accrued from daily living inside the castle, over the walls on the surrounding farmland. The organic waste was then used to fertilize the land, which guaranteed many more crops for the future. Later it was adapted to toss witches into the ocean.
