If you are having problems with reinfestation, you are not actually getting rid of the lice. Over-the-counter preparations are not nearly as effective as prescription shampoo. Call you doctor and get medication that works. There are a number of websites that detail steps you must take around the house.

Gestation time for head lice is 10 days from the point that a female lays the eggs and the nits hatch. An adult can live for up to 30 days on its host. If bedding and other items are not properly treated, eggs can hatch and a nit can reinfect a host.

The gestational period for head lice is highly variable, extending from as short as 6 days to as much as a month in areas where the temperatures get colder. In the winter, this needs to be taken into account.

Lice eggs hatch in 7-9 days. If you use a medicated treatment, it's recommended that you use it again in 7-9 days to kill any lice that just recently hatched.

The gestation time for head lice is approximately ten days and the best way to get rid of the lice is to use a proper shampoo meant to exterminate head lice.

Lice multiply very fast. So the best wat to get rid of head lice is to apply the medicated shampoo which is available for lice treatment. Initially you have to use it twice in a week followed by once weekly for a month. Get rid of it soon.
