What is the fastest mile ever run?

I need to know what the fastest mile ever ran is.

It was run by a Moroccan named Hicham El Guerrouj. He ran a mile in just 3 minutes and 43 seconds.

I'm a 12 year old girl but I've been training for 3 years so far and my life long dream is to have the fastest mile. I'm at 7 minutes and 21 seconds. I know kinda far away but I think I can do it. What's the fastest woman mile?  add a comment

The fastest mile by a woman was run by Svetlana Masterkova who is from Russia. She ran it in 4:12.56  add a comment

The fastest mile ever ran was ran my dreams. I lined up for the biggest race of my life, scared to death with butterfly's rubbling in my stomach, the gun sounded. 3 minutes and 33 seconds later I crossed the finish line. New World Record.

The record holder for the fastest mile ever run in an outdoor event by a human is Hicham El Guerrouj of Morocco. On July 7th, 1999, Hicham El Guerrouj covered the mile in 3:43. 13, in a race in Rome, Italy. Hicham El Guerrouj just edged out Noah Ngeny of Kenya who recorded a time of 3:43. 40.

The fastest mile on record for a man is 3min 43.13 seconds. It was set by Hicham El Guerrouj of Morrocco in July of 1999. Svetlana Masterkova of Russia set the womens record of 4 min 12.56 seconds in August of 1996.

Hicham El Guerrouj of Morocco, was the fastest male to run a mile with a time of three hours forty-three minutes and thirteen seconds. He accomplished this feat at the age of twenty-four on July 7, 1999 in Rome, Italy. The previous record, set in 1993 was held by Noureddine Morceli.
