What is the disadvantage to stealing cable?

The first and main downside is that cable companies have the capability to send a signal on the line that can destroy your TV and anything else connected to the cable. Next, its theft, and they have a reputation of getting convictions resulting in jailtime and hefty fines.

If you are caught stealing cable it will be immediately disconnected. You may get a warning, be barred from ever getting it again, or be prosecuted.

You can go to jail. And then you will have to go to court and then more than likely have to pay a very hefty fine. It doesn't pay to do it.

Stealing cable is a serious crime. Charges can range any where from large fines to jail time. You may also have to pay restitution to the cable company. This is called theft of services and the charges are the same if not worse than stealing products from a store.
