What is the difference between simple and differential staining?

Differential stain, stains cell wall of gram positive bacteria, due to high level of peptidoglycan present in cell wall which, will be purple color. Those stain gram negative, don't have peptidoglycan and in crystal violet,saffrin. Simple stain shows basic morphology of bacterium or bacteria present use bromthymol green, crystal violet.

Simple staining identifies the organ or organism, where differential staining will differentiate between different types of cells or organisms within the cell that is being stained. They are two different types.
