Answer by  Bryansix (34)

DVD camcorders record video directly to a DVD. This DVD once finalized will then be viewable in any DVD player. DV camcorders record video digitally onto tape. Most DV camcorders use the miniDV standard tape and most still use the original DV standard codec from 1995 although some camcorders can record HD video on the same tapes.

Both DVD camcorders and DV camcorders can record digital video. However, there's one main difference between them. A DVD camcorder records video directly onto a DVD disc. Depending on its model, a DV camcorder can record video onto digital video tape, hard disk or other medium.

They are both digital format but one uses a DV media which is a small digital cassette. The dvd recorder actually records on a DVD.
