A DO is a Doctor of Osteopathy. An MD is a Medical Doctor. Both are board-certified physicians. DO's believe in treating the whole person and not just the disease.

The difference between the two is that the D.O. is trained to evaluate the body through taking histories focusing on the health problem and lifestyle issues where as an M.D. might look for physical symptoms first before pursuing the other issues.
